Friday Night Gathering Message Notes

Spiritually speaking, are we living in a time of peace or a time of war?

We are often tempted to focus on ourselves and what we want from God. Things “for me and my life”. God does care deeply about your life, but we fail to see the bigger picture. The kingdom picture. We are at war.

God’s story is one of redemption in the midst of war.

If we will, we can understand that the spiritual battle we fight has raged since the beginning of time and will continue until Christ comes again. We must know we have a real enemy that Jesus has already defeated. God has already won. It is written, but not yet completed.

Revelation 12

  • Timeline - The progression in Revelation through judgments pauses in Chapter 12

  • Woman - God’s people

  • Giving birth - Jesus

  • Red Dragon - Satan

Critical points:

  • Battle through all of time - will come to an end

  • Satan is overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony

  • Satan is enraged with God’s people

Are we on the front lines of the battle? Or are we elsewhere on the battlefield, not really in the purpose that advances the war?

In order to function in the body for what God wants and serve a purpose in the great battle of all history, God wants to heal. He loves you deeply and wants to heal completely.

Ephesians 6:10-19

This is the battle. The answer to the fight is: truth, righteousness, gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the word of God, and prayer.

What are the wounds in your heart that keep you from those things? What holds you back? The ways of the world will manage your pain and heal superficially. But God will heal completely.

We’re talking about war and spiritual battles because it’s the spiritual reality we need to come to Jesus for healing.
