How do I overcome Satan?

  • The battle and the enemy are real (see last week's message, Revelation 12 and Ephesians 6:10-20).

  • Preparation for the battle is critical (foundations, following God, and the body of Christ).

  • But how do I overcome?

And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.

(Revelation 12:11)

Surrender to Jesus. Repent.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ

(Ephesians 1:3)

Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord

(Acts 3:19)

We have all that we need in Crist. To take advantage of all that He gives, we need only surrender. We must repent in that first step of faith and many steps afterward. Jesus is always calling us to a deeper surrender.

Weapons of Warfare

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, 4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, 6 and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete. 7 You are looking at things as they are outwardly. If anyone is confident in himself that he is Christ’s, let him consider this again within himself, that just as he is Christ’s, so also are we.

(2 Corinthians 10:3-7)

  • We “walk in the flesh”. We walk in practical, everyday matters, but we do not war in these things.

  • Weapons are “divinely powerful”. From God and not from men!!

  • But you are looking at outward things! But we are in Christ.

We look at the outward things, the things of the flesh, to fight our battles and to heal our souls. But God looks at the heart. He deals with the heart and heals the heart.
